Memorial Weekend Ride, Part II - Regency Park
(updated: Jun 3, 2007)
Finally I have completed the video of the second ride of last Sunday. Daniel and Brandon went up to Cary to hit the dirt jumps out at Regency Park. I gave them my camera to take so they could get some photos and video clips for the website. They met Robbie out there. Brandon broke his brake line early and had to borrow Daniel's bike. Luckily Daniel brought his big bike and the dirt jumper. Speaking of dirt jumping, after editing the clips, I have to get one. This looks likes a lot of fun. Too bad I never got to learn how when I was young like the kids you see killing it in the video. Incidentally, this is my first time editing in Final Cut Pro. It is rather overwhelming. Looks like I have a big learning curve ahead of me. Anyway, here's the video and photos of the ride.
(You'll need the latest Quicktime player, version 7. Get it here )

well i am kinda mad that my bike got busted cuz i had been dieing to go to rahleigh. we made the best of it and we both got tired after not having much sleep the night before. i did finally realize that the controls on the video at the bottom right allow you to satch the video frame by frame. while doing this i noticed that i was close to coming up short on the de-ttatched platform stunt. all in all the day was good and riding someone else's bike is always weird. i wish we could have hit up Platty cuz that was the main reason i wanted to go there but we will hit it another time. i would deff. recomend watching the crash video over and over in the step by step mode. it still has not gotten old to me yet. i am sure i watched on the camera about 20 times coming back to wilmington.

That's the reason I like Quicktime. You can go through the video frame by frame using the arrow keys. Nothing like watching the exact point of helmet to ground impact over and over again. But I do think you rode great even though you weren't on your own bike. You should be crowned Sir Most Improved.

You posted on James Kunstler's site asking about calculations proving that we can't replace fossil fuels with alternative energy sources.
Aside from the obvious fact that no-one's gonna be running a bull-dozer with solar panels, this calculation has been done many times.
The best place to start is www.dieoff.org. There are links to many well-sourced articles by Jay Hanson and others, that show pretty clearly that our goose is already cooked.
Also see www.peakoil.net.
