Monday night ride @ Blue Clay - with a warning

(updated: Dec 16, 2008)

Rode with Greg, Neil, Patrick, and Tim tonight. Nice temps. Good ride. Some areas have gotten soupy from the rain and people riding too soon after it. But it always gets like this in the winter, when we get a lot of rain and there's no active vegetation to soak up the water. You have to remember these are wetlands. I have seen this place a lot worse. I hope we don't see it like that again but we are in a generally drier trend. Long term weather patterns and the effort we put into maintaining the trail will determine the health of Blue Clay over the years.

We are still trying to move forward with future phases of the park but of course things are not moving as fast as we'd like them to. We are pushing a fine line and must be careful.

Anyway, after the ride we were standing around talking in the parking lot and we hear a lot of loud yelling coming from up the road. I thought it was several people but it turned out to be one guy, apparently just released from prison. He was really yelling in anger, I mean this guy was pissed, and it made us a little nervous.

So just be aware that people get released from the prison randomly and you should not ride Blue Clay alone, especially if you are female. One time I saw another guy they released go into the woods to change his clothes. And another time I talked to a guy for a while. But you don't know what their history is so it is best to be wary and avoid being by yourself. It's a good idea anyway to ride with a partner so this is just one more reason.

Sorry no photos tonight - too bad because I could have gotten a good one for hotchickswithdouchebags at the grocery store. Guy bought like three pallets of eggs I'm not kidding. Before my biking days I used to be a gym rat. Lifting is good for a base to build off of, but getting huge for the sake of getting huge makes no sense. When I started mountain biking I was so top heavy I endo'd all the time. And I was slow as molasses. It sucked. But I guess when you have an economy based mostly on sprawl-building, the only activity left after we remove all the woods, is, well driving back and forth to a gym and then to a club. Dude drove a Hummer too.

One more thing: we are planning two trips to FATS this weekend, leaving Saturday around 6am and leaving Sat night, staying overnight and riding early Sunday. Reply here if interested.

That's it for now. I do have another video to post and Sir Peanut has done a writeup of Bent Creek that I will post tomorrow.

So lifting weights makes somebody a douchebag? What exactly is a douchebag... because alienating & talking shit about anybody & everybody that doesn\'t act, think, or do as you do seems pretty douchebaggery to me.

Lifting weights at a gym is an act of douchebaggery. That does not make you a douchebag, but when done in conjunction with other acts of douchebaggery can make you a douchebag.

Sadly, asking "what is a douchebag" means you are quite possibly a douchebag. Check your bathroom for any hair gel or overpowering cologne. You may be in trouble.

It all makes sense when you consider that I am a misanthrope, with aspirations of someday becoming a bitter old coot.

LOL Randy. That was pretty good. It was more of a philosophical question. What makes a douchebag a douchebag? The way they look or the way they act. Sorry no smelly cologne or hair gel & I work out at home. I think I'm safe. But thanks for the laugh.

SBA after you left the guy was at the end of the road yelling at me for a ride.He got picked up by some fellow thugs and Neil saw them pulled over on Blue Clay and railroad tracks out in the road about to fight. We all need to pay close attention to our suroundings while at the park
