New stuff @ Blue Clay

(updated: Dec 25, 2008)

The trail gods have smiled upon us and left us a gift. Today we cut down the large pine that fell across the trail from all the wind the other day. Rather than just move it off the trail and be done, we used some creativity and made three Technical Trail Features (TTFs).

The first thing we set up was a nice log ride. The bark gives you plenty of traction. (Sorry for the low quality pics. They were taken with my phone.)

Then we had the idea of making a big log ride over the trunk of the fallen tree. But there was another tree about 10ft in front to go over first. So we just made it one big log roller.

You have to keep your momentum to make it over the second log.

After you clear this you turn and go over the log ride.

So that's three TTFs out of one tree. Not bad. We have plans of making a fourth - an advanced log ride up the tree with a ladder drop off the side. That will take some skills.
