2009 EC MTB Race Series - Results from Race 2 @ Blue Clay
(updated: Feb 9, 2009)
Results from the second race of the Winter Race Series, held at the Blue Clay Bike Park in Wilmington, NC on a perfect day in February. Podium photos below and I will be doing another post with the top photos and then a video which I am hoping the footage turned out well.
We made the local news, which was fantastic (you can catch it tonight on WWAY, and it should be on their website tomorrow). WECT and News 14 were there as well. And we also broke 100 riders. 111 in total. That's a first for this race series and an amazing result.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to make this an outstanding, well run event, especially given that there were only four timers for all the riders.
Update: ec Velo is handling the results for the race series, so I've sent them the overall times and removed the results from here. There was an issue with the Expert times also and they will be adjusted along with a few other minor corrections. Please check back at ecvelo.org using the links below for the updated standings.
Individual Results for Race 2 now linked here at the ec Velo website.

Is there any chance that scans of the scoring sheets will be posted so that we can see lap splits?

Don't know if there is an "official" CFC team, but I am a member, so you could add my 13 points to the CFC score.

What happen to the Expert times? I know it did not take me 2:56 to do 4 laps. I also saw the split times and it looked like everyone in the Expert class had an hour long second lap.

No idea what happened with the expert times, i know that the guy running them only manned the expert class while everyone else had either a massive group (beginner) or 3-4 classes to time. With only 4 timers it was bound to happen.

I had to leave early after the race but you all down there did a great job with the race. The course was very clean and I could see where you all worked the trail over to make it safe and fun. Each time I crossed the road, I thanked those folks for the work they did too. I hope the next race at BC is just like this last one.
Anyone have any links to all the folks taking pictures out there?

Great race course. I bit off a little more than I could chew though trying to do 3 SS laps. With the lack of good training this winter, I found myself fighting off cramps middle way thru lap 2. It did not scare me off though, I'll be back. Thanks to all who had a hand in making for a painful but wonderful race.

The trick to racing four on a single speed is simple. Drink as many yuenglings as possible the night before, followed by 64 oz of gatorade. Morning of, drink an FRS (bikecycles) and go hard. No excuses.
