Harbison State Forest ~ video

(updated: Jan 18, 2011)

Did this ride a while back and finally getting around to cobbling some footage together. This is a ride that Ed and I do on the way to a ride that turns out to be way better than we expect. Harbison is in Columbia right off of I-20, three hours from Wilmington. It has some fun singletrack, including the more technical Spiderwoman II trail, with the rocky parts featured in the video.

The park has a good amount of climbing considering you're still a couple of hours away from the foothills. The park staff is friendly as well, except when you fail to leave the place before 5pm, which is when the gates close. You can park in the front lot which is not gated so you won't get locked in.

There are enough trails here to keep you riding for hours. We didn't get to all of them this time.

There is a map and more info here on my Trail Info page. Or check the Trails Page for more photos, write-ups, etc.

The video came out ok - the bright fall sun and light/dark shadows in the woods made it difficult to film...just have to go back again.

From video, the trails seem to flow nicely like F.A.T.S.

Nice job with the video. Its great to see all the fun we have on the trails. Too bad I don't have trails like that out my front door. I don't know if Ed sent you the info for the SORBA event in Brevard in March, it looks like a good time.
