Pilot Rock

A killer downhill ride that drops 1500 ft in a couple of miles. Very rocky. Numerous tight switchbacks that give the larger 29 inch wheeled bikes a hard time. You may encounter hikers on this trail. There are scenic views along the trail as well.

You can access this trail from the top either from the Blue Ridge Parkway, or starting from Yellow Gap and climbing up Laurel Mountain Trail for seven miles. Or you can park at the Bradley Creek campground parking area on Yellow Gap Rd (FS 1206) and access Pilot Rock from the bottom. You can also access Pilot Cove/Slate Rock Creek trails from here as well.
